Welcome to the shop.

Between Underhill’s Forge and Midknight Arts, we cover everything from hammering hot steel to casting precision resin scales. We believe you can’t produce quality work if you’re fighting your tools.

We get asked constantly—whether it’s about Ariel’s casting process or Jacob’s forging setup—“What do you use?” or “Where did you get that?”

Instead of keeping secrets, we created this page to share the exact gear that survives our workshop. Whether it’s the resin that gives us crystal clear handles or the tools we trust at the anvil, if it’s on this list, it’s because we use it daily to make our living. As an affiliate, I earn a small commission from qualifying purchases. This helps support the forge at no extra cost to you.

The Clarity: SuperClear Epoxy Systems

I use specific formulas depending on what I am casting.

For my Knife Handles, I use their Counter Top Epoxy. It cures incredibly hard, which is essential for drilling, sanding, and shaping without melting on the grinder.

For my Rune Sets, I use the Designer Art Epoxy. It has a slightly different viscosity that is perfect for capturing fine details and deep colors in smaller molds.

rockler knife molds

The Foundation: Rockler Silicone Molds

If you’ve seen our handle scales, you’ve seen these molds.

I use the Rockler Silicone Knife Handle Molds exclusively. I’ve tried the cheap generic ones online, and they often warp, tear, or leave a dull finish that requires hours of extra sanding.

These molds are thick, durable, and give a perfect dimension for knife scales every time. They are the only molds I trust for our custom orders.
