Who Was Gerda?

In Norse mythology, Gerda (or Gerðr) is a stunning giantess of the earth and fertility, belonging to the race of the Jotnar. She is most famous for the tale where the god Freyr falls desperately in love with her at first sight, trading away his magical sword just to win her hand. Representing fierce independence, deep-rooted earth energy, and the wild beauty of the northern frost meeting fertile soil, Gerda embodies a strength that cannot simply be taken by force.

The Brew

I don’t do mass-produced. To make a set of runes that actually speaks, you need the right ingredients. For the Gerda set, I had to sneak past the guards and step right into the giantess’s legendary, forbidden garden high up in the north:

• The Cobalt (Blue): A handful of ice-cold morning dew shaken straight from the petals of midnight-blue flowers that only bloom in the dead of the northern winter.

• The Vineyard (Dark Purple): Crushed, overripe nightshade berries and deep purple petals plucked from the most hidden beds of her expansive estate. It gives the mix a rich, earthy, velvety darkness.

• The Anchor (Black): Rich, dark loam scooped straight from the center of her garden beds, packed with centuries of raw, growing power. I ground it into a fine powder to outline the ancient ᚠᚢᚦᚨᚱᚲ (Futhark) symbols, locking all that fierce, fertile magic safely inside the resin.
