What Is Níðhöggr? In old Norse lore, Níðhöggr is the giant scaled serpent living under the world tree whose entire personality is chewing on roots and chewing out corpses. He’s basically the ultimate HOA nightmare of the cosmos—just gnawing away at the foundation of reality because he has nothing better to do and hates everyone upstairs.

The Brew I don’t do mass-produced. To make a set of runes that actually speaks, you need the right ingredients. For the Níðhöggr set, I had to squeeze down into the dark basement of the universe, dodge a ridiculous amount of toxic spit, and negotiate with a giant lizard who needs to touch grass:

• The Boysenberry (Purple): Swirling realm-tear purple pulled straight from the dark rips in space where the roots bleed into the void.

• The Stream (Blue/Green): Toxic, glowing blue-green mist skimmed off the top of the primordial freezing waters of Niflheim—basically the cosmic version of mystery drain cleaner.

• The Gold: Flecks of shiny stolen loot scraped off the rocks where the dragon hoards his junk like an overgrown raccoon.

• The Anchor (Gold): Pure, gleaming gold flakes hammered down fine. I used them to outline the old ᚠᚢᚦᚨᚱᚲ (Futhark) symbols, locking that toxic, root-gnawing venom straight into the resin so it doesn’t melt your coffee table.
